THE LAZY E-L RANCH The Lazy E-L Ranch is a working cattle ranch nestled at the foot of the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. With five miles of river frontage, wildlife abounds in this spectacular, unspoiled setting. The ranch offers a high quality hunt with the opportunity to see many animals and to pick a respectable size elk or deer. Great accommodations include comfortable historic cabins and wonderful home cooked meals. WHAT’S INCLUDED
The rates for private land hunting include:
- Transportation from the airport or ABO headquarters
- Return transportation to the airport or ABO headquarters
- Comfortable sleeping accommodations in historic cabins
- Cabins amenities include showers, towels and bedding
- All meals during your stay on the ranch
- Use of horses, mules, tack and rifle scabbards
- Experienced Guides
- Field care of trophies and transportation of your animals to our local taxidermist and/or your meat to the local butcher
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED
The rates for private land hunting do not include:
- Transportation to Montana
- Montana hunting licenses and tags
- Montana fishing licenses
- Hunting equipment including guns and ammunition
- Transportation of trophies to final destination
- Fishing equipment including rods and flies
- Any additional transportation costs
- Gratuities for guides and cooks *
* Many of our clients ask what is standard for gratuities. The norm is 10-15% of the cost of the hunt divided at the client’s discretion between the guide and the cook.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
When you book a private land hunt with Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters on the Lazy E-L Ranch accommodations include: historic cabins equipped with showers, towels and bedding; all meals during your stay; transportation for hunting including horses, tack and rifle scabbards. Guests Driving: The ranch is located in Roscoe, MT.
Directions from Billings: Go west on Interstate 90 to Columbus; at Columbus go south on 78 to Roscoe. Driving time from Billings to the ranch is approximately 1.5 hours. Directions from Bozeman: go east on Interstate 90 to Columbus; at Columbus go south on 78 to Roscoe. Driving time from Bozeman to the ranch is approximately 3.5 hours. You can either drive directly to the ranch or you can leave your vehicle at ABO headquarters in Big Timber and ride to the ranch with the ABO staff. Big Timber is on Interstate 90 between Bozeman and Billings. Please check in with ABO to confirm your arrival time (406) 579-3866. All hunting reservations for the Lazy E-L Ranch are made through Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters.
Guests Flying: Plan to fly into the Billings Logan International Airport (BIL).
An ABO representative will meet you at the airport to transport you to the Lazy E-L Ranch in Roscoe.

The service is usually very good into Billings. However, there are limited flights into Montana, so make your reservations early.
